Year 1
Building upon Early Years foundations, Year 1 shifts from play-based learning to structured, subject-specific lessons. A critical focus is developing core skills in literacy and numeracy, with a particular emphasis on daily RWI phonics to prepare students for the statutory Phonics Screening Check in June. Regular home practice is vital, and resources are provided on DoJo to support this.
The wider curriculum covers Mathematics (numbers to 100, addition/subtraction, shapes), Science (seasons, animals, materials), and range of foundation subjects including Computing, History, Geography, Art, Music, PE, and RE, while continuing to develop key skills like reading comprehension and handwriting.
