Parkwood Academy

Meet our PSHE Lead

Mr. Cole is the genuinely enthusiastic driving force behind PSHE at Parkwood, leading the subject with infectious passion. Dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment, he ensures every child leaves Parkwood with a deepening understanding of human development, relationships, and personal well-being.

Under his guidance, we focus on building the foundational blocks of positive relationships right from early education, teaching pupils about friendship, identifying healthy and unhealthy behaviours, understanding family dynamics, and embracing the core importance of respect and kindness. Mr. Cole’s curriculum, which aligns with Department for Education guidelines, is carefully tailored to varying maturity levels, ensuring knowledge is revisited and deepened throughout the primary years. By promoting essential values and clear personal boundaries, Mr. Cole prepares our children for their future interactions and decision-making, while fostering a profoundly respectful and inclusive school community.

The “Parkwood Foundation” Dinner Table Quiz

Question 1: The Trust Test “Parkwood Academy always talks about the ‘foundational blocks’ of relationships. We know one block is ‘Trust.’ If we are at a table, what is one other block that makes a relationship work, and why is it so important?”

Question 2: The Action Check We learn at Parkwood that a healthy relationship uses ‘Healthy Behaviours’ and avoids ‘Unhealthy Behaviours.’ If one person has a problem, what is one thing a healthy friend would DO (an action) and one thing they would NEVER say?”
